1) Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how BiteTracker (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the BiteTracker mobile application (the “App”).
2) Information we collect
A. Information you provide
- Account details (if you create an account): such as email or identifiers needed to sign in.
- Health & nutrition inputs you enter: e.g., weight, goals, meal logs, macro targets, notes.
- Support messages: anything you send to us for troubleshooting or feedback.
B. Camera / photos (only when you choose to use it)
If you use meal scanning or photo-based features, the App may request access to your camera and/or photo library. Photos you capture or select are used to provide the feature (for example, estimating calories/macros).
C. Subscription & purchase information
If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the payment. We receive information necessary to unlock features and validate your subscription status (for example, product identifiers, purchase/renewal events, and entitlement status). We do not receive your full payment card details.
D. Analytics & diagnostics (optional but common)
We may collect app diagnostics and usage analytics to improve stability, performance, and user experience. This may include device information (e.g., device model, OS version), app version, and events within the App.
3) How we use your information
- Provide core app features (meal logging, analysis, progress tracking).
- Enable camera-based meal analysis when you request it.
- Validate and manage subscription access (premium entitlements).
- Maintain and improve the App, fix bugs, and prevent abuse.
- Respond to support requests and communicate important updates.
4) Sharing your information
We share information only as needed to run the App:
- Apple (App Store / StoreKit): payment processing and subscription management.
- RevenueCat: subscription status, entitlements, and paywall/offering configuration.
- Analytics providers (if enabled): e.g., PostHog for understanding app usage and improving features.
- Service providers: hosting, error logging, and infrastructure vendors used to operate the App.
We may also share information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect users and the App from fraud or abuse.
5) Data retention
We keep your information only as long as necessary to provide the App and for legitimate business purposes (such as security, compliance, and resolving disputes). You can request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
6) Your choices and controls
- Camera permissions: you can disable camera access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Subscriptions: you can cancel from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Analytics: if the App offers an analytics toggle, you can opt out there (if available).
7) Children’s privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
